Broward Sheriff's Vehicle Auction Closes November 3, 2026: Retired Police Explorers From $1,825, a 2011 Crown Victoria Police Interceptor at $1,450 and Tahoes From $4,301. At BSO's April Sale, a 2017 Tahoe PPV Sold for $7,300 and a 2016 Explorer Police Interceptor for $4,425.

The Broward Sheriff's Office is selling 33 lots of retired patrol cars, unmarked units, pickups and work trucks online, and the first lot closes Tuesday, November 3, at 7 p.m. Eastern. Five Ford Explorer Police Interceptors are bid at $1,825 to $3,175, a 2011 Crown Victoria Police Interceptor with 116,510 miles sits at $1,450, and five Chevy Tahoes range from $4,301 to $7,850. BSO's spring sale set the mark for these trucks, when a 2017 Tahoe PPV sold for $7,300 and a 2016 Explorer Police Interceptor brought $4,425 on April 21.

FORT LAUDERDALE, FLORIDA — The Broward Sheriff's Office, one of the largest sheriff's departments in the country, sells its retired vehicles through Bidera Government Auctions, and this fall's sale is down to its final day. Bidding opened October 23, and the lots start closing at 7 p.m. Eastern on Tuesday, November 3. The sale holds 33 lots, from marked and unmarked police SUVs to a 2021 RAM 1500 Big Horn, a 2017 Ford F-350 diesel dually and a 33-foot Brunswick boat on its trailer, and the bidding has been busy, with several lots past 130 bids by Monday afternoon, when the prices in this article were taken.

The inspector's notes are what make this sale stand out. Bidera's inspectors start the units, check the transmission and the air conditioning, record the miles and write up the body and interior, so a buyer sitting at home can read exactly what each car looks like before bidding. Every police unit here comes with a clean title, all of the emergency equipment has been removed, and the notes for nearly every one end with the same words: the engine sounds good and the transmission engages.

The Explorers: five Police Interceptors from $1,825

Five Ford Explorer Police Interceptors with the 3.7-liter V6 are in the sale, and the lowest-mileage one is also among the best buys. Lot 117 is a 2014 all-wheel-drive unmarked unit with 88,906 miles at $2,200; it starts right up, blows cold air and has good tires, and the inspector notes it may need motor mounts. Lot 105, a black 2017 with 118,115 miles, is at $2,625 and started with a simple jump, with the inspector calling its condition good and the cargo area nice.

Lot 104, a 2016 unmarked unit with 137,369 miles, is the least expensive Explorer at $1,825; the inspector test drove it, the battery is good, and its damage is limited to the front bumper and grille. Lot 121, a 2016 with 108,467 miles, is at $2,125 and ran for more than an hour at inspection, and lot 110, a 2017 with 145,330 miles, leads the group at $3,175 after 69 bids.

A 2011 Crown Victoria Police Interceptor at $1,450

Crown Victoria fans have one to chase in Broward. Lot 112 is a white 2011 Crown Victoria Police Interceptor, the final model year Ford built, with 116,510 miles and a 2,000-hour engine meter. The inspector calls its overall condition good and says the car is mostly just dirty, the trunk is very clean, the rear vinyl seats look good, and it idled for more than 30 minutes with no sign of overheating before a test drive in drive and reverse. It shows an active check engine light, and after 20 bids it sits at $1,450.

The Tahoes: five from $4,301

The Tahoes are drawing the biggest crowds. Lot 131, a silver 2019 Tahoe PPV with 112,147 miles, has 131 bids at $5,600, and the inspector describes a straight body, cold air, good tires and an engine that revs and idles nicely. Lot 107, a 2019 unmarked Tahoe Special Service Vehicle with 142,732 miles, is at $6,450 after 133 bids and started right up, and lot 106, its 2019 twin with 164,757 last-reported miles, is at $4,875 after 136 bids.

Lot 116, a 2018 Tahoe PPV with 153,862 miles, running boards and a full-size hitch, tops the group at $7,850. The best value may be lot 113, a 2012 unmarked Tahoe PPV with 155,757 miles at $4,301, which started with a jump and ran for more than an hour, and comes with its original step boards and a full-size spare.

What BSO's vehicles sold for in April

Broward's spring sale on April 21 shows where these trucks can finish. A 2017 Chevy Tahoe PPV sold for $7,300, a 2016 Ford Explorer Police Interceptor with all-wheel drive brought $4,425, and a 2009 Dodge Charger police car modified by BSO went for $4,450. Everything else in the sale

The rest of the 33 lots are trucks and family vehicles that buyers are bidding hard on. A 2017 Ford F-350 XL diesel crew cab dually leads the whole sale at $18,600 after 205 bids, a 2021 RAM 1500 Big Horn 4x4 is at $18,200, and a 2004 Dodge Ram 2500 diesel crew cab is at $12,000 after 149 bids. How to bid, pay and pick up

Bidding is online at Bidera.com with proxy bidding, so the site will bid for you up to the maximum you set, and a 13% buyer's premium is added to every winning bid. Payment is due immediately after the sale and must arrive by 3 p.m. Eastern the day after the auction closes, by wire transfer, Zelle or Visa and Mastercard up to $30,000; cash is not accepted. Every vehicle is sold as is, and the title is transferred before pickup at a DMV agency Bidera names on the winner's invoice, for dealers and private buyers alike.

Local buyers have three business days to remove their vehicles and out-of-state buyers have seven, with a $50-a-day fee for up to five days after that. Vehicles paid for by credit card are picked up by the buyer in person. Bidera's phone number is 305-822-5000.
