LAPD and San Diego Police Property Room Auction Closes November 5, 2026: a Rolex, 16 E-Bikes, 10 E-Scooters, 35 Pallets of Bicycles and Police Jewelry From More Than 25 Southern California Agencies. Government Auctions Sold Rolex Watches at a Middle Price of $3,663 This Year.

Every police department ends up holding things nobody comes back for, and this week more than 25 Southern California agencies are sending theirs to auction at once. JJ Kane's Southern California Surplus sale closes Thursday, November 5, with 306 lots from the Los Angeles Police Department, the San Diego Police property and evidence unit, the Los Angeles County Sheriff and police departments from Santa Monica to Escondido. The lineup includes an LAPD Rolex, 16 e-bikes, 10 e-scooters, 35 pallets of bicycles and a dozen lots of police jewelry, and government auctions sold Rolex watches at a middle price of $3,663 over the past year.

JURUPA VALLEY, CALIFORNIA — A police property room is where found property, unclaimed evidence and seized items wait for their owners, and when the holding period ends and no one claims them, the department sends them to auction. JJ Kane gathers those lots from across Southern California at its yard at 4510 Muth Way in Jurupa Valley and sells them online in one timed sale, so a single auction this week pulls from the San Diego Police Department, with 56 lots, the LAPD with 27, Los Angeles County Metro with 19, Escondido with 17, Riverside County with 15, Santa Monica police with 14 and Fullerton police with 13, along with Pasadena, Newport Beach, El Segundo, Irvine, Whittier, Montebello, Oceanside, Carlsbad, Huntington Beach, Costa Mesa, Torrance and the Orange County Fire Authority.

The lots close starting Thursday, November 5, and bidding is open now on JJ Kane's site. Every item is sold as is, where is, and the descriptions are written plainly, so a buyer knows exactly what to expect before bidding: police seizure items are marked as such, electronics note whether they may be locked, and jewelry is described as authenticity unknown.

The Rolex and the jewelry

The headliner is lot J1124, a Rolex watch from the LAPD with a gold dial, a two-tone bracelet and a stone-set bezel, which JJ Kane lists as having aftermarket parts. Rolex watches have a strong record at government auctions. Over the past year, 30 sold at a middle price of $3,663, including a 1997 Yacht-Master in stainless steel and 18-karat gold that the Texas Comptroller sold for $7,701 on October 15 and a 1979 18-karat Day-Date that brought $13,950 on September 17.

Around the Rolex are a dozen jewelry lots, nine of them from the LAPD and the rest from Newport Beach, Santa Monica and Fullerton police, along with an Escondido lot of currency, trading cards and jewelry and a San Diego Police lot of sunglasses and watches. The lots mix necklaces, chains, rings, bracelets, earrings and wristwatches, and every one is sold as authenticity unknown. Jewelry lots from police departments and state unclaimed-property programs sold at a middle price of $282.50 over the past year, and the West Virginia State Treasurer sold a lot of 12 pieces for $775 just this Monday.

E-bikes, e-scooters and bicycles

California's e-bike boom shows up in the property room, and this sale has 16 e-bikes and 10 e-scooters. The e-bikes include a Juiced moped-style bike from Carlsbad police, a Ride1Up and a Lectric from San Diego police, and a Zoomo e-bike with a front basket from the LAPD, and the scooters include Segway, Ninebot, Hiboy and Phantom models. Each is sold without keys or chargers and is listed as a police seizure item that may be locked from registration, which makes them a natural fit for buyers who rebuild and resell bikes or want parts.

Bicycles come by the pallet. There are 35 pallets of used bicycles in the sale, nine of them from San Diego police and the rest from Whittier, El Segundo, Montebello, Escondido and Fullerton police, Foothill Transit and LA Metro. Electric bikes from police departments and government surplus programs sold at a middle price of $300 over the past year, with an Oregon City Police Department Bandit X-Trail Pro bringing $535 and a District of Columbia lot of eight bicycles and an e-bike bringing $400.

Instruments, cameras, cards and more

The rest of the property room reads like a garage sale with a police report attached. There are three violins from Santa Monica police, San Diego police and LA Metro, a ukulele from Oceanside police, acoustic guitars from Santa Monica and El Segundo police, and a Fender Rumble 100 bass amplifier. San Diego police contributed golf clubs, including a left-handed set, a Jackery Explorer 1000 power station and a Garmin Striker Vivid fish finder open in its box, and the LAPD sent cameras, video game consoles and tablets. Santa Monica and San Diego police have lots of sports cards and gaming cards, and there are comic books too.

Generators and equipment

The sale also carries 53 lots of Cummins Onan Quiet Diesel generators, 50 of them from a studio production company and the others from the Orange County Fire Authority and the Coachella Valley Water District, sold one or two to a lot. Riverside County, Santa Monica Fleet, Carlsbad and LA Metro add pressure washers, a pallet wrapper, a trailer tug, a post puller and pallets of tools, and Torrance has eight pallets of Gillig bus parts.
